On Sunday night, at the Miss Universe 2009 event that was held in Bahamas, Miss Dominican Republic Ada Aimee de la Cruz was the first runner up. Second time in a row, a Venezuela beauty was crowned the title of Miss Universe 2009. The name of the Venezuelan beauty is Stefania Fernandez. The 18-year-old beauty was crowned the title while Miss Kosova was the second runner up.
Ada Aimee de la Cruz got fame when she earned a spot in top 15 at the Miss World 2007, as Miss Dominican Republic World 2007. Later on, she represent Province of San José de Ocoa and crowned the Miss Dominican Republic 2009.
The event Miss Universe 2009 was hosted by Billy Bush and Claudia Jordan, the co-anchor of “Access Hollywood,” and the former Miss Rhode Island USA, respectively. This year’s event was also judged by supermodel Valeria Mazza and actor Dean Cain. NBC was the broadcaster of the event Miss Universe 2009.
In Miss Universe 2009, Miss China Wang Jingyao and Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej were named Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic respectively. Wang Jingyao was voted by other contestants while Chutima Durongdej was elected by online voters.
This year’s show also featured the performances by Flo Rida, Heidi Montag, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. Heidi Montag performed on “Body Language”, a song from her debut album and this was her first ever live performance.
