Spanish artist Alicia de Larrocha has died on 25 September 2009 at the age of 86. She was born on May23, 1923. She was married with late Spanish Pianist Juan Torra. She had two children.
She gave her first public performance at the age of 5years. She was very good in playing piano and she started playing piano at age of 3 years. Measuring 5 feet Alicia de Larrocha won the heart of many listeners.
She died on last Friday in a Barcelona hospital. She was in poor condition for two years after breaking her hip. A family friend Gregor Benko who is also a good producer and a piano music expert confirmed her death.
In the age of twenty her carrier was on the peak and she was doing full house shows. Owing to her skills and efforts she was very popular. In 1947 she started influencing Europe. Soon she was in the major musical centers of Europe.
She had her first visit to United States in 1955. That was a remarkable trip. Due to this trip she was recognized as one of the world most outstanding Pianists.
During her life she won many prizes and awards. The list of her success includes myriad prizes and Prince of Asturias Prize in 1994.
The universities of Michigan, Middlebury College-Vermont and Carnegie Mellon awarded her honorary doctorates. She had also earned many European prizes by her work. She retired in October 2007 after 75 years of public performance. According to some follower she had a magic in her hands.
