Anne Scripps Douglas was a newspaper heiress. Anne Scripps Douglas is the grand-daughter of James Scripps, the founder of Detroit News. Anne Scripps Douglas was the mother of Anne Morell Petrillo. By jumping from the Tappan Zee Bridge, Anne Morell Petrillo committed suicide. In 1993, on New Year’s eve Anne Scripps Douglas was killed by Anne’s stepfather Scott Douglas, in her daughter’s room. Anne Scripps Douglas was beaten to death by her husband with a hammer.
Anne led a very privileged and comfortable life. She was born to a descent family. She was the descendant of the people that founded the Scripps Howard newspaper chain. In America, they were the once publishers of the Detroit News, Cincinnati Post and a number of other newspapers.
Near Albany, at the all-girls Sacred Heart Convent, Anne Scripps Douglas did a rigorous academic and disciplinary course. She attended Duchesne Residence School in Manhattan, after graduation.
She married Anthony Morell after completing her studies. Anthony Morell was a a bond trader and Anne spent 18 years of marriage with him. They had two daughters, Anne Morell Petrillo and Alexandra. She divorced from her husband Anthony and married Scott Doughlas. Her life took a horrible change after her marriage to Scott Doughlas and the same man ended her life.
