Beverly Johnson

Beverly Johnson the famous American model made history in 1974 as the first black model to be appear on the cover of American Vogue. She paved the way for black women in the fashion world. Baverly is not only a super model she is also an actress and businesswoman.

American super modal born in 1952 into a middle class family. In her youth she was a champion swimmer. At the suggestion of a friend she tried to be a model, that time she was studying criminal justice. From her youth she was aspired to be a lawyer. In a very short time she made her place in the world of fashion and appeared on more then 500 magazines covers. Her success changed the beauty ideal and from 1975 all major fashion designer preferred using African American models and her act open a new horizon for such models in the future like Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks.

Beverly Johnson is also a singer and she had a brief career in singing.In 1979, she released one album on Buddah Records. She has authored a book “Beverly Johnson’s Guide to a Life of Health and Beauty”. She serves as judge on a TV series in which 35 women compete for a modeling contract. “She’s Got the Look” is a reality show.

Baverly has appeared in several TV shows and performed in Ashanti, Def Jam’s How to Be a Player and The Meteor Man. American super model will appear on The Mo’Nique Show tonight on BET.
