In order to outwit Republicans President Obama on Monday was expected to convert his important health care plan from a political liability into a trump card. On Monday he plans to offer his own health care proposal. It is a few days ahead of the health care summit that he is hosting on Thursday. It will be televised. After that the details will be posted at WhiteHouse.gov online at 10 a.m. This will be a fresh attempt by President Obama to rescue his health care plan. According to some reports of The Times’s Robert Pear and David Herszenhorn, some of the provisions have already emerged. These provisions also include a proposal by President Obama that will increase the federal oversight of the insurers to control the excessive rate increases.
The United States being the only developed nation does not have a detailed national health care plan for all of its citizens as they have to rely on the plans of the private insurance companies. Out of America’s 300 million people 50 million people are without health insurance. With this proposal federal will get the excessive powers for controlling the excessive rate increases by health insurance companies. These proposals are under the study of White House and these are designed to fill some gaps between the senate bills and the previous house. According to the reports a new Health Insurance Rate Authority made up of health industry experts would be created by it.
The reception of the Republican has been mixed in advance of the summit. It has been said on Sunday in a television interview by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell that he along with his Republican Colleagues will attend the summit. Today House and Senate lawmakers have returned to Capitol Hill after their extended break of President’s Day/snowstorm.
