On October 13, 2009, Charlie Davies an American football player was badly injured in a car accident. Charlie who plays for the United States national as a striker was in Washington, D.C., for a World Cup Qualifier game between Costa Rica and the United States, was badly injured in a single crash killing a fellow passage. The accident took place at 3:15 A.M on Virginia side of the George Washington, Parkway. According to the latest hospital medical reports, Charlie is now out of danger and in a stable condition.
The accident killed a 22 years old Ashley Roberta who was in the car with Davies, while Davies himself suffered from lacerated bladder, fractured right tibia and femur along with facial injuries. Davis was brought to Med Star Hospital immediately by a helicopter after the accident. After undergoing operations, Charlie is in much better condition. Davies being the striker for his team was the hope of America and proves to be an important player for the World Cup matches. According to the U.S. Soccer Federation official statement, Davies might miss the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, he will also miss France League 1 session.
According to the Police reports, they were also collecting the necessary evidence from the accident and still said that the investigation might take 2 weeks. It is also under consideration if alcohol or fast speed became the cause for the accident. The important thing is that how the accident will affect the Davies’ career. He has to undergo almost 5 hours of surgery at the hospital. His fans and soccer lovers are praying for his health and recovery as America really needs his support and his fans wants to see him again in his full form.
