Charlie Weis is fired as coach at Notre Dame on Monday. Charlie Weis was born on March 30, 1956 in Trenton, New Jersey. Charlie served at the University of Notre Dame as the head football coach for almost five years. He was an NFL offensive coordinator for the New York Jets from 1997 to 2004, and later for the New England Patriots.
Todd Haley is the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He said,
“I know Charlie, about as up close and personal as you can know him.”
Athletic director Jack Swarbuck said,
“It’s important to look first and foremost at people that have built and sustained a college football program,”
He added,
“That’s important.”
About the possibility of winning the BCS title for Notre Dame. He said,
“I don’t think there are any endemic reasons [why not].”
Charlie and his wife, Maura have two children named Charles Joseph and Hannah Margaret. The couple established the Hannah & Friends Foundation in 2003, for the children affected by developmental disorders. The foundation named after his daughter who is autistic.
