In Pittsford, New York Superstar of men?s golf, Tiger Wood?s niece Cheyenne Woods who is an 18 year old missed her chance to start off in the LPGA tour on Saturday at the storm struck Wegmans LPGA.
Cheyenne Woods managed to finish her second round 74, from which two were over par, on Saturday, 27th June 2009 like 71 other players. Half of the field had to complete their rounds which were stopped on Friday due to darkness which followed by a further five hour delay because of the thunderstorms in the region.
Cheyenne Woods who is an amateur at the moment, managed to end at five over with the score of 149 for 36 holes, on the cut line off a four strokes, she entered the event through exemption by the sponsor.
Shin Jiyai from South Korea kept her lead at the end of the second round, but her lead of three strokes was brought down to a lead of one stroke due to an amazing game play by an American, Morgan Pressel, as she played the third round.
The South Korean star rookie who is only 21 finished a 68 on Friday in order to get to a 36 hole record which was 11 under par 133, but Morgan Pressel narrowed down to 134 as she played the two morning birdies in her last five holes, she was 134 after the second round 66.
Another American, Stacy Lewis came in third as she was on 135, and a single stroke ahead of Kristy McPherson and two strokes from Mindy Kim, another South Korean.
In the end it was Shin Jiyai who is the first non-LPGA player who has won three events to her name on the tour and wishes and hopes to carry on this amazing streak.
