According to reports, a US coastguard Hercules plane and a Marine Corps helicopter collided each other off the coast of southern California. The officials said today that nine people are feared to have died in the plane and helicopter collision. According to reports, the collision incident occurred yesterday at 7.10pm local time. The collision between the US coastguard Hercules plane and Marine Corps helicopter was happened near San Clemente, which is 50 miles off the coast of San Diego county. In a chain of islands off California, the San Diego county is the southernmost. The US navy owned the place and used it for training purposes.
The officials said,
“A search was on Thursday night for nine people left missing after a Coast Guard plane collided with a Marine helicopter over the Pacific Ocean near Southern California,”
According to reports from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), at the time of the collision, a nearby pilot had reported seeing a fireball.
An FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said,
“Two people were on board the helicopter and seven on the C-130 Hercules, a four-engined turboprop plane used around the world as a troops and cargo carrier.”
