A sudden death of a pilot during flight is not the first case. On Thursday the Continental Airlines Boeing 777 was travelling from Belgium to New Jersey. The plane consists of 247 passengers. It left before noon from Newark Liberty International Airport at 9:45 a.m. During flight the 60 years old pilot who was on duty died. The other two co-pilots were present at the place so they took the charge of the plane after him and landed safely on Brussels airport.? The 72 year old Dr. Julien Struyven who is a cardiologist told that the pilot was already dead before he examined it. Dr. Julien Struyven was from the passengers. The doctor told the heart failure is the reason of sudden death. There was no chance to safe the pilot but he did his best for a life.
According to some passengers they said that they weren?t told about anything in the plane. They just know that during flight an announcement was made for asking about any doctor in and immediately some people who were aware with medical help gone to cockpit.
The pilot was on service from 32 years. He was a senior and much experienced pilot in the Continental Airlines company. The airport crew is shocked on the news of his senior pilot who was with them with long time. They also have been feeling sad for the pilot family.
To avoid such kind of risks a former leader of the Continental Airlines pilots union and a recent pilot who flies Boeing 767 jets for the airline Tom Donaldson said that there should be regular medical examine of pilot before flight. He also said that along with the pilot there are many other people are on risk with this kind of situation so a third pilot should be also in the plane.
