A text message with the news of the death of former Philippines President Corazon Aquino was circulating all around Philippines on Friday. But the rumor was immediately denied by the people close to her.
Former Supreme Court justice Adolf Azcuna was shocked when the fellow Cabinet members told him about the message they all received. In that particular message, it was written, “Cory is dead.” After that the the former presidential legal adviser announced the news of her death and people throughout the country burst into tears as soon as they came to know that Aquino is dead.
But now they will feel much relax as one of Aquino’s daughters, staff member of her son Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and a family friend made the announcement that Corazon Aquino is still alive.
Aquino’s private secretary, Margie Juico said,
“Please let us not make these untoward statements against Cory. She is still alive,”
Juico added,
“Let us await word from the family. Let us respect that and let us all pray for her,”
After receiving the same message, the The British embassy here issued a condolence message to the Aquino family. 76 year-old Corazon Aquino has been suffering from Stage 4 colon cancer for last few months. She remained the President of Philippines from 1986 to 1992. She was the 11th president of the country and the first as a female. She called herself as, a “plain housewife.”
