American football placekicker Devin Barclay, born on April 9,1983, at Annapolis, Maryland. Before joining The Ohio State Buckeyes, he was a soccer player at Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer.
At the age of 18, he skipped from college and signed a contract with MLS in 2001 and allocated to the Tampa Bay Mutiny.When he joined the team the condition of the team was very bad but as a rookie he made an excellent impact on it. Barclay appeared in 23 games,he scored 3 goals.12 starts and 2 assists.
In 2002 MLS Allocation by San Jose Earthquakes Draft he was selected 8th overall. But Barclay could not perform well in 12 games which he played and end it with no score. In exchange of a draft pick he traded to D.C.United. In D.C he appeared in three games but his luck was not with him. Ray Hudson, as a coach did not preferred young players to play in the game. After 2003, he was traded and joined Columbus Crew.
In 2004, he succeed to impact on the Crew but again played in just three games. Barclay, also represented the U.S on junior level but unfortunately he could not made it for a long time as he was unable to break an MLS side.
In 2005, Barclay was released by Columbus in 2005. So he get just one chance to appear in 2005.
Due to injuries and to find out a little time for practice he decided to retired from soccer. After retirement he started to learn that how to kick field goals. As a junior Barclay still have the eligibility of two years. At Ohio State University, he was on second position but after the injury of Aaron Pettrey, he is now the starting kicker.
On November 14, 2009 when his team was playing against the Iowa Hawkeyes, Barclay scored a game winning kick and ensuring Ohio State to be a part of the 2009 Big Ten Championship.
