Brett Rogers was expected to be the one with punchers’ chance against Fedor Emelianenko, but things went the other way. In the USA TODAY/SB Nation consensus rankings, Fedor Emelianenko ranked No. 1 for heavyweights and he proved that his hands are stronger that Brett Rogers it in the fight against him.
Tonight, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., Emelianenko beat Rogers with a second-round technical knockout. In the second round, Fedor Emelianenko floored Rogers with a right hand and before referee John McCarthy stopped the bout, he punched Brett Rogers, who is larger in size as compare to Fedor Emelianenko, on the mat thrice.
It was an interesting match to watch and Rogers tried to push Emelianenko in the cage with his size and power. He did so because the Russian had not fought in such environment before today. Emelianenko landed a number of cracking punches in both first and second round and he took Rogers down at least twice.
It was clear from the TV replay that not every punched threw by Emelianenko landed flush on Rogers and on the ground, he was covering it. During his post-fight interview in the cage, Rogers did not complain about the stoppage.
