Cleveland Browns has fired George Kokinis. He was the general manager of “Browns” and had not completed a single year yet. According to team and league sources, he was forced to be resigned by owner Randy Lerner but he refused. He was then fired and reason was told that he was failed to adopt specific standards mentioned in his contract.
On Monday, November 02, 2009 media initially reported that Kokinis had been fired. WKYC and the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Monday night that Kokinis was thrown out of the Berea Facility by security on Monday afternoon.
Browns said in his statement.
“Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organization. In response to rumors and reports that Kokinis was escorted out of the building today, the Browns deny those reports. In the interest of protecting the parties involved we will withhold further comment.”
Last month, Lerner investigated the professional and personal conduct of team management including Kokinis, head coach Wric Mangini and director of football operations Erin O’ brien but the but the condition turned into worst after their defeat from the bears with a record score of 1-7.
A source described that Kokinis was performing his job well, he was engaged in solving the team problems and he does not deserve that kind of behavior. He has 18 years of experience and he can deal the problems well.
