Hadassah

Hadassah is a Women’s Zionist Organization of America. The founder of this organization was Henrietta Szold. Its an American Jewish volunteer women’s organization.It was established in 1912. Now it is the largest Jewish organization. A large number of women from all around the world are its members.

When it came into being the goal was to promote the public health initiatives and Zionist ideal through education. Soon Hadassah opened its branches at different places. The first president of this organization was Szold. This institute opened the first medical school in Palestine and the group get the inspiration from Szold. Not only this the group whom they named Hadassah opened first Tipat mother and children clinic and two hospitals in Jerusalem.

Hadassah runs an institute in Arad which brings students to Israel. Hadassah is also identified for saving the lives of thousand of children from Holocaust through Jewish Youth Organization. Its also a part of Jewish National Fund and supports “The Hadassah Medical Organization” (HMO). Hadassah initiated many projects for madical aid and built several hospitals in Israel and all over the world.

In October 2009, Hadassah has announced to establish Israel’s first military medical school. This organization is also taking part in fight against Anti-Semitism. Two hospitals of Hadassah Medical Organization were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.
