The ABC soap opera “All My Children,” actor James Mitchell has died at the age of 89. On Friday he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. James was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Recently he had gotten pneumonia. The legendary actor appeared in the popular soap from 1979 until the 40th anniversary episode which was aired this month. He appeared in more then 300 episodes. Mitchell’s long-time partner Albert Wolsky says:
“Mitchell loved playing the gruff, wealthy Palmer, who wielded power over the show’s fictional town of Pine Valley, Mitchell “loved playing mean.”
He started his career with the American Ballet Theatre. James Mitchell was born in 1920 and received a degree in theatre from Los Angeles city. He also played roles in Billion Dollar Baby, likes of Brigadoon, Carousel and Paint Your Wagon. He was also well known for his as “dream Curly” in 1995.
