On Wednesday, a defamation lawsuit was filed by Lisa Mayfield against his stepson Jeremy Mayfield. Jeremy was sued by his stepmom after he accused of taking money from NASCAR after she told them her that Jeremy took methamphetamine and she witnessed him taking it for several times. The suit was filed by the attorney of Lisa Mayfield in Iredell County Superior Court. In both compensatory and punitive damages, Lisa Mayfield seeks in excess of $10,000 each.

In an affidavit that she gave to NASCAR, she claimed that, between 1998 and 2005, she witness Jeremy taking methamphetamine for more than 30 times. She also claimed that even his stepson Jeremy “cooked” his own methamphetamine to obtain the required ingredients.

In an interview with ESPN.com, Jeremy Mayfield called his stepmon a “whore”, and added that,

“she shot and killed my dad.”

In an interview with WSOC, Jeremy Mayfield said,

“that is pretty much a low blow, especially with a lady who is involved with killing my dad and doesn’t like me, not one bit, and needs the money, and I am sure they made a pretty hefty deal with her.”

According to a report by ESPN.com, in 2007, the death of Terry Mayfied (Jeremy’s dad), was ruled as a suicide.

The suit filed by Lisa Mayfield claims,

“Lisa has suffered damage to her reputation as the result of the defendant’s defamatory statements… and has undergone great mental suffering and emotional distress as a result of the defendant’s action in defaming her.”
