On Tuesday afternoon Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced in his weekly press conference that Steelers signed wide receiver Joey Galloway to replace Limas Sweed. Limas Sweed was placed on the reserve/non-football Illness list. Joey Galloway has also played for the Patriots, Buccaneers, Cowboys and Seahawks. Joey, 38, caught seven passes for 67 yards (9.6 avg.) in three games with the Patriots this season.
On March 14, 2009, Joey Galloway signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots for $1.75 million deal that included a $600,000 signing bonus. He was released by the Patriots on October 20 due to a lack of production and difficulty in learning the Patriots offense. During his 15 year NFL career Joey managed 689 receptions for 10,777 yards and 77 touchdowns.
Joey Galloway was born on November 20, 1971 in Bellaire, Ohio. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks eighth overall in the 1995 NFL Draft. The Steelers (7-7) will face Baltimore Ravens in a do-or-die game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Heinz Field.
