Josef Heynckes named as Jupp heynckes is a German football coach and former player who born in Monchengladbach, Germany on 9 May 1945.
Heynckes was a good striker of football in his time. He played 385 matches in the German Bundesliga. His great achievement of 220 goals was the third highest in his league, after Gerd Muller?s who scored 365 goals and Klaus Fischer?s who scored 268 goals in their game career.
Heynckes started his playing career in 1964 and mainly played with Borussia Monchengladbach which was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1965. In Bundesliga, he spent his two years and next three years in Hannover 96. In 1970 he returned back to Monchengladbach and played there until 1978 which was his career end. From 1970 to 1978 he won four championships of 1971, 1975, 1976 and 1977. He also won the National Cup in 1973 and the UEFA Cup in 1975.
After his playing career he served the club Borussia Monchengladbach almost eight years as coach. Then as coach he served Bayern Munich from 1987 to 1991 and during this period he achieved two German championships. In 1994-95 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt. During this period he developed some clashed with players which eventually led to the departure of those players from the club. He is considered the worst manager of Eintracht.
In1997-98, he moved to CD Tenerife, Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid. In 1998, he got the greatest success of his life when after 32 years dry spell, he succeeded to manage Madrid to win Champion League trophy.? Due to lack of domestic success, he had to leave Madrid. After this he joined SL Benfica and then returned back to Athletic Bilbao.
In May 2006, he joined Borussia Monchengladbach as coach and was retired in January 2007 after 14 consecutive defeats of Borussia.
However, on 27th April 2009 Heynckes? became the coach of Munich.
He is the third most prolific striker in the history of Europe club competitions. In his 64 matches he achieved remarkable average of .80? goals per game.
