The Konami Code, also known as Konami Command in Japan, is actually a cheat code appeared in many Konami video games and some Non-Konami games as well. This code was first used for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. It became famous in North America after Contra version of NES released in market. This code was helpful for user as they could press following sequence of buttons on the controller during pausing.

After that, the code extensively used in other games also and acquired a place of a reference to the third generation of video game consoles. It is so popular that the websites like Facebook are also using it for producing lens flare effects. The string of circles appears on the screen, scrolling up and down, and removed after “refresh”.
The founder of the Konami code is Kazuhisa Hashimoto who developed the code for arcade game, Gradius, in 1985. Gradius was a shooting game released in 1986 on Nintendo Entertainment System. During tests, it was found that it was pretty hard to play the game so, he developed the Konami Code to make the game easy for users.
Till 1988, the code had been using in many other games too especially NES version of Contra. The code was a blessing for the player as it could enhance the lives as much as 30.
