In July 2003, 21 years old Leidy was murdered in West Reading. She was planning to work as a registered nurse at Reading Hospital just before she was murdered.
She was very outgoing and had deep impact on many lives in her short life time and she will be remembered always till long. Now her family works towards other victims on such crime.
The Leidy Bonnano Memorial Scholarship Fund has been founded by Leidy’s parents at the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, in her memory. They have also renovated a waiting room at her name, Leidy’s Room at the office of The Philadelphia Anti – Violence.
Leidy was adopted at the age of 4 and according to her mother, Kathy described her daughter as
” a delightful, outgoing child with a huge smile, a big hugger and kisser.”
“She was only an average student,” Kathy said, “but she was always interested in the medical profession and had a high tolerance for seeing surgery”
Kathy said.
“”She had the nature to be a nurse – very compassionate, but self-possessed, a strong sense of self.”
Leidy’s murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
A neighbor, who lived near Leidy Sheeder Bonnano’s place, testifies that she heard an argument between her and Joseph D. Eaddy few days before Leidy was murdered.
According to the reports Eaddy was accused of killing her girlfriend, Leidy with a telephone cord in her apartment in 2003.
