Meb Keflezighi

Meb Keflezighi has won the New York City Marathon race and with that he has got the honor to be the first American to win the race after two decades. 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist earned the title for himself in 2 hours 9 minutes and 15 seconds. The 34 years old athlete born in Eritrea and became American citizen in 1998, he is the first American who got to win major marathon since 1982.

“The USA gave me all the opportunities there is in education, sports and lifestyle,” he said. “To be able to represent the USA is a big thing for me.”

Cheruiyot got the second position with a time of 2:09:56 while Jaouad managed to get the 3rd position for him with a time of 2:10:25.last man who won New York Marathon for America was Alberto Salazar. Keflezighi was fighting with his hip injury from the last two years and after that he has made a brilliant come back. He was failed to cap entry for himself in US Olympic trials two years ago where he was diagnosed with that hip injury. 2007 was the worst year for him as in the same year his friend Ryan Shay died in a collapse during race.

On the other hand, Ethiopion athlete won the New York Marathon title of woman. The 37 years old athlete crossed the winning line in 2:28:52.
