This is ridiculous. If Sarkozy can marry a model/heiress and she can have affairs, talk candidly about her somewhat sordid history, walk around in a bikini on vacation, and write music, the American media should be able to relax and report about other things besides Michelle Obama’s very respectable attire for a vacation in the Grand Canyon.

Why are people so cruel about Michelle Obama’s appearance, or, for that matter, Sarah Palin’s intelligence? Both are reasonably attractive, intelligent women. Obama and Palin are no Kerry Washington, or Kate Beckinsale, but both are pleasant-looking women with nice figures (especially, their legs). Both are probably smarter than average. Willowy beauty Malia, in particular, looks like her mom–not her Ratattouille-eared, cyanotic-lipped dad. Sarah Palin, despite what people say about her, rose to the highest executive position in her state. I suspect most of the Alpha Female bashing comes from WOMEN, who are the ones seething with jealousy over other powerful women, or women married to powerful men. We saw this with the ‘feminist womyn’ attack on Bill Clinton’s mistresses, even though the accused rapist himself got a pass from them.

I am an American, and everyone I’ve spoken with on this issue thinks it is disgraceful to our country. She’s a representative of our best of the best and looks very dishonoring to our nation. She should have worn a skirt/skort or capris or knee length shorts and covered up her top part of the leg, no one wants to see that flapping all over TV and the internet. She is dressed like she’s 20 something. It’s okay for anyone else to do it that isn’t rep’ing our nation but she’s an ambassador of the U.S.A. and should note that when dressing. That’s right Marianne, they are showing their selfishness and will continue to. Let’s hope folks see that before the next election. Mrs. Obama, please show some modesty ma’am. I really don’t care if Michelle wears shorts. It is just the style of shorts she chose to wear. This style is unfit for a lady of her position. I think they should have been knee length. Michelle Obama always looks like a rag doll rather than a first lady. Her hair is poorly maintained and her clothing is shabby. Sarah Palin and all other first ladies are generally business like and their hair is always professionally groomed. I just have one word of advice for MO. Please hire an image consultant. It really will help you. (Just trying to help).

Enough of this ‘modesty’ crap. Anyone who uses that term is a defacto fellow-traveller of the Taliban. People who hate to see women bare flesh are either A: misogynistic men (like the pederasts in Islamic fundamentalist circles), B: perverts who get uncontrollably aroused, or C: jealous women.
