Mike Shanahan
The former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan has queued up for the Washington Redskins’ still-occupied head-coaching position, according to the Denver Post. He is likely to be named the head coach of the Redskins for 2010. On Thursday the Redskins hired Bruce Allen, son of late Redskins Hall of Fame coach George Allen. Bruce Allen is a new general manager of the Redskins, he replaced Vinny Cerrato.
Mike Shanahan (born August 24, 1952), he was hired as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 1992. In 1995 he joined the Denver Broncos as head coach; he led the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1997 and 1998. He is now a strong contender to replace Jim Zorn as head coach of the Washington Redskins. Redskins’ record at 4-9 with three games to play, its difficult for Zom to maintain his position as the head coach.
Allen said about Zom,
“Give us some time to see how our relationship develops.”
On Monday night the Redskins host the New York Giants in a tough game. The owner of Washington Redskins Dan Snyder said,
“Obviously, Bruce has got the authority. And when he makes a decision, the club makes a decision, it’s a Redskins decision. … I’ve not been as involved as people may have thought. In terms of the future, obviously we’re going to be counting on Bruce to help lead the way.”
