First Lady Michelle Obama wore a gleaming silver-sequined, light colored gown at the State’s “First State Dinner”, Tuesday. She was looking gorgeous in her gown along with a stack of bangle bracelets on her wrist, a matching wrap and dangling earrings. The dinner was held by the President Barrack Obama in an honor of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur (who wore traditional Indian Saree at State Dinner).
First Lady’s dress was designed by Naeem Khan, US based Indian fashion designer, and according to Naeem khan, the dress took 40 people three weeks to complete and was made at khan’s workshop in India. Khan’s specialty is ethnic embroideries, bold embellishment and dazzling colors. Khan in an interview with CNN’s Larry King told that he wanted to dress first lady something like Indian chic, simple but very glamorous.
Mary Tomer, author of the book “Mrs. O: The Face of Fashion Democracy.” Commented about her dress like that.
“I think she looks fabulous,” said Tomer. “She walked out in something that’s figure-flattering and chic. Naeem’s work is known for glamour and embellishment and this dress seems to embody that. She’s sparkling and radiant.”
Hal Rubenstein, fashion director for InStyle magazine said that he was happy that first lady had fashion knowledge and she knows how to look sophisticated by choosing right dress.
“She looks like she’s worth her weight in solid gold. What I love about her is that it’s a pleasure to watch a woman of size and stature not apologize for her height and know how to stand tall.”
