Well there are several Marathons held all over the world but the most famous one is Philadelphia Marathon. For this year marathon 20,000 runners participated in it. Philadelphia Marathon is organized every year since 1954. It is hosted by the city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Marathon is always held in November.
The Marathon started at 7 AM on Sunday, November 22. The starting location of the marathon was 22nd Street and Benjamin franklin Parkway. At the start of the race temperature was 40s and when the marathon finished, it was between 40s and 50s. The marathon certified course was 26.2 miles, Mayor Nutter started off each wave and everything seemed well organized. Like in every marathon there were a good number of water stops too and in three different places GU was handed out.
In the Philadelphia Marathon there were professional runners as well as many locals. In the elite field John Crews from America was the winner, he crossed the line in 2:17:15. On the second spot Emory Mort from Ghent, Newyork, his time of finishing was seven minutes more than Crews. 30 Year old Karl Savage from Philadelphia was in third place with a time of 2:26:02.
For the women, 37 year old Jutta Merilainen of Toronto clinched the first spot with a time of 2:46:44. Doreen McCoubrie of Malvern, former marathon Olympic Trial runner was at the second place with a time of 2:49:24.
