According to a number of surveys, public is unhappy with the performance of Congress. CBS News Poll held yesterday, shows that overall public dislike reform packages of the Democrats although most people support certain ideas for health care like “public option” but overall people are not happy with the performance of Democrats. The dissatisfaction crossed party lines and in poll both Democrats and Republicans received low marks from public which think that neither of them is able to handle the current situation.
A recent poll by Pew Research Center shows that only 34 percent people think that these existing Congress members should be re-elected.
Yesterday, a conservative website announced that they have sent millions of “pink slips” to members of congress to convey citizen’s dissatisfaction regarding certain issues.
The conservative website, WorldNetDaily, has warned the congress members that if they support government’s cap and trade, government health care, hate crimes and any more spending, campaigns then they will issue their real pink slip in next elections.
On Tuesday, in a press conference held at Capitol Hill by the organizers of campaign they told they had sent out 5 million pink slips. Republican politicians including, Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Steve King (R-Iowa), Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) and Trent Franks (R-Ariz) also attended the conference.

“This is part of the reason… why we haven’t seen this legislation on health care come through earlier,” said Bachmann, who received the pink slips along with all other congressmen. “People are shocked that 5 million people have taken the time and the money … to send these pink slips.”
