Very unusual marvel happens here in Arkansas where a woman, Julie Grovenburg, has conceived 2 offspring one after another with the difference of 2 and half weeks.During the ultrasound, another heartbeat was felt coming forth from her ovary. According to the medical terms, this is called superfetation that is fertilization of a second ovum after the start of a pregnancy, leading to fetuses of different ages, which is very common in some animals. But in human beings, it is very rare and unusual. Only 10 such cases have ever been reported in human beings where the ladies got pregnancy while they were already pregnant. In an interview a surgeon and fertility expert Dr. Karen Boyle said, “Identical twins are called monozygotic twins i.e. when a woman ovulates one egg and that egg becomes fertilized and then when that baby is at final stage embryo, it divides into two genetically identical beings. So, that is identical twins. Fraternal twins is when the woman ovulates two eggs at one time and then two eggs are fertilized by two different sperms. These are fraternal twins and that could be a boy and a girl or two girls that don’t have the identical DNA. This case is different because the woman ovulated one egg that was fertilized and then two and half weak later, ovulated another egg that was fertilized at a different time.”
A very interesting things is that both the babies have different due dates to have their first steps in this world. The older child will take birth in December 2009 and in January 2010, the sibling would follow him. The doctors daresay the healthy birth of both the babies.
