Sahel Kazemi, who was found dead on Saturday with Steve McNair, have Iranian descent. In an interview, her sister Soheyla Kazemi said, Sahel expected McNair to leave his wife in the next two or three weeks and eventually marry her. Soheyla also said that, Sahel lived in Jacksonville for three years. Sahel attended Orange Park High School and then moved to Nashville, Tenn, after dropping out from the school. Soheyla said, her sister moved to Nashville with her former boyfriend, Keith Norfleet.
Soheyla said she raised Sahel since their mom’s death in Iran 10 years ago. She said, their family left Iran and moved to Turkey. She said they were moved to Jacksonville in 2002 from Turkey.
According to Sehal’s 23-year-old niece, Sepide Salmani, Sehal was a self-determined girl and did things in her own way. She also said that, Soheyla is not willing to move to the US but Sehal didn’t ask for permission. About Sahel’s move to Nashville, Salmani said,

Her relatives known her as a party girl and so friendly. About Sahel, Soheyla said,
?She was scared to be alone and she always wanted people around.?
Soheyla said, she used to chat with Sahel through Facebook. Sahel worked as a waitress in Dave & Busters for two years. She also said, Sahel told her about her affair with a married ex-football player and she is going to marry him very soon.
Soheyla said she met McNair in Nashville, a month ago in Sahel’s 20th birthday party. About McNair, Soheyla said,

Soheyla said she got aware of their deaths while checking her Yahoo mail on Saturday. She said it was stated that McNair was found dead with an unidentified woman and she knew that it was Sehal and soon police contacted her.

I agree, maybe not with the language stated in the post. But you are right. Steve probably NEVER told this girl he would marry her. Give up his family and kids for that? Never..But I don’t think he told her that. I think she just thought his fling was a love affair. You are right also, if this sister or whomever it was ..knew that she was involved with a married man..especially a celebrity (who has too much to lose to leave his family) they should have somehow stopped it or tried to stop it. Even if it meant going to his wife.. IF they find out she murdered Steve..(which I bet they do) It will be gut wrenching. What a loss..she had it planned from how I am reading it. To everyone who is turning this into a “culture” thing – Sahel Kazemi – the girl was NOT muslim. Not everyone from Iran or the Middle East is a Muslim, she was Ba’hai. Secondly, just because she was born in Iran doesn’t make her less of an American. By all accounts she was very americanized in culture i.e. drinking, working as a waitress, dating etc. Finally, why is everyone speculating – so far the police have yet to offically declare the cause of death or the suspect.

AS an Iranian American female I would like to say how truly sorry I am to hear this news. However, I would like to say that whenever people engage in such negative behavior such as adultery or sleeping with a married man in essence you are bringing bad energy, negative energy in your life. The deeper you fall while into this whole the greater the negative energy becomes. Nothing good ever comes out of anything bad.
As a Persian American I do not believe this is about culture. But I will say this –the media is not a valid outlet it DOES NOT paint the correct image of an Iranian or an American. It saddens me that the media portrays Iranians as overly dramatic with the release of Crash, House of Sand and Fog, and the daily news which constantly perpetuates the idea of war, and inhumanity. The educated mind knows that this is not true, it is what sells in the media.
Second I would like to say that a 36 year old man has no right to toy with a 20 year old female. As a women who was once 20, a 20 yr old female especially from the middle east believes that sex equals love and for a 36 yr old man sex is merley a hobby. Well, McNair committed adultery. It happens, it’s not good, but this happens all the time. Not everyone who commits adultery gets killed in the process though. That’s why, in my mind, Sahel Kazemi is to blame for this mess. McNair may have led her on, but Sahel was very stupid to believe that McNair would leave his family for some 20 yr. old slut who needed attention.
Sahel was no innocent. Besides killing the man, she knew he had a wife, she knew he had kids, so the fact is, she tried to rip apart a family. An upstanding woman would forget McNair and move on. I hope McNair had good life insurance that his wife can cash in on. Though it sounds crass, there is no reason hanging around for a two timing husband. Also guns don’t kill people, but people kill people. Especially unstable people are dangerous with guns. Maybe that 2nd amendment is outdated or needs to be severely restricted by psychological tests before purchase and a mandatory waiting period of 3 months. There’s nothing wrong with Iranian culture. If you don’t know anything about Iran please go and educate yourself. Nobody can and is allowed to blame a nation by the act of just one person. Even if current government of a country is acting unpleasantly it has nothing to do with its people and their culture. As everyone knows, Iran is home to one of the world’s oldest continuous major civilizations, with historical and urban settlements dating back to 4000 BC. I don’t know and don’t care where you come from, but I am sure that when Iran was civilized your country name wasn’t even in the map. You may easily find hundreds of educated Iranians hold high positions in the U.S. Government, universities and private companies. Does it surprise anyone?
Regarding these two persons I have nothing to say because I don’t know anything about their relation and what they intended to do or even said to each other and don’t think anybody else does. Apparently she was an out-of-school 20 yrs old waitress that seems may have acted irrationally in some circumstances and even she may have killed that guy. But it doesn’t have any relation with her nationality. She was living there at least for half of her short life and may that culture influence her recent behavior. Haven’t you done anything wrong in your life? Dose it have any relation with your nationality or culture?

One small note, Iranian are not Arabs they are Persian and their culture is different with Arabs. Iran is the only non-Arab country in the Middle East. Just Google Iran or Persian you get a lots of information about them, they speak Persian and they don ‘t speak Arabic. Do some research and then make a comment Iranian people are not the enemy of USA, their stupid government have issue with USA. Go and read the history between Iran and USA. I work in an educational institution and I have met a lot of Iranian people and they are very educated people. Of course there is always a bad seed like here in our old USA and this girl is an example of bad Iranian seed. Steve was made a huge mistake to get involve with this girl. He should have deal with his marriage first and then if he really wanted to be with another woman, I am sure he could find a descent and beautiful woman. I just read through what you all wrote on the McNair and Kazemi case,
and I am surprised like many of you that there are people in here
writing and propagating hate. Yes she was born in Iran but she was raised in America which makes her an American right? She adopted the american lifestyle which did not make her what you say she was “a middle eastern barbaric woman” (a phrase that is so ;steorotypical ignorant garbage)
Number 2 like one of you guys said It takes 2 to Tango, MCNair made a big mistake he cheated on his wife and he lead Kazemi into believing that they had a solid loveaffair. Lets be honest Married men cheating on their wives always try to convince their female lovers that they are going to leave their wives. This is a way to hold down somebody with empty broken promises. But the problem was she knew he was married and as a single woman she should have put and end to it.
But as I see things now two humanbeing two souls are no longer with us. And who is left Mneils family and the Kazemi family. Mourning and Mourning for the loss of their 2 family members. Mneills children lost a father a role model and his wife lost a husband a lover and a friend. Sometimes the best thing to do is to let things be, this has happend just pray for the Victim McNeil and his family. This is a very sad situation for all involved. Yes, it was wrong to get involved with a young woman. Yes it was wrong to get involved with a married man. But God is the Judge of sin not man. No sin is greater than the other. All sin will be judge as sin.
There are four little boys that one day will read all these comments made by people who did not know their Dad personally yet felt the need to degrade their image of him. I think McNair found this young lady an easy target for sex because he probabily wasn’t getting it from his wife. He used his fame and wealth to seduce her by buying her a vehicle, and had her made the payments on it, so that he could hide the financial details from his wife. He had his and the girl’s name on the vehicle papers, so that he could get her to qualify for a loan for the escalade, and gave her the money to make the loan payments. After all, what bank is going to lend a 20 year old that much money to buy a car like the one he gave her?
When the young girl heard/thought that he was cheating on her with another girl, it most likely turned out to be his wife. The two of them chatted and Sahel realized the truth. After learning the truth, she most likely felt very ashamed and felt that she could not hold her head high proudly in her culture and among her friends. Given this, she probabily felt that she could only leave this world as a loyal girl true to her lover by killing her lover and committing suicide. Wierd but this type of thinking happens a lot in middle eastern, indian, african, etc… cultures. They are also called “Honor killings”. As to who is to blame, keep reading.
McNair targetted this young girl who took his advances as true and honorable. He clearily knew that fame and fortune makes young girls go crazy and make them do anything he wants them to. The reason why I say “He clearily knew…” is because as a football player, he most likely has experienced girls throwing themselves at him throughout his career. Ask any football player.

The moral of the story is this, if you lie down with dogs you get fleas… especially stray dogs. Steve should not have stooped to such a low level and dated this young, confused, mixed up low life girl, waitress!!! Bottom line. He could have done much better than this. There is a saying that goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words” Anyone looking at her picture can see the demons in her eyes. She looks like she is possesed by Satan.
Had he broken up with her and was successful in getting away from the relationship, I do believe his entire family would have been assasinated by this manic! I a am a player by many peoples definitions. I like many girls and 21 and 22 and above are fine. Below 21 is trouble and never lead a girl on or anyone for that matter. I am not married because I would not lie to a girl and tell her that she would be the only one. Many times these married men have no clue what they are doing. This was a sad case.
When Mcnair started to see that she was very unstable he wanted out. He was correct about the unstable part. Just this thought…In this world are numerous people that are just DIFFERENT. We do not all think the same and we do not all act the same. Age is an age. Being molded at a certain age is what’s key. We have an 11 year old boy in a different country that gets a 13 year old girl pregnant. He goes to the hospital and is by the girls side before and after the delivery. We have 31 year old men who can’t do that. In life we are going to experience differences. Life is different. There is no set way of how to live it. If there was it would be a perfect world and we all know as long as there is good vs. evil there will never be “perfect”. The McNair murder-suicide is just that, a story of the tragic battle between good and evil. G-d bless the families in their time of loss.

Actually it was the 100 percent opposite, had she stayed true to her culture none of this would have ever happened! A typical girl from the middle east culture would complete her education at the University level, she would never date in an American sense of dating, but when she was ready to get married she would meet various men in her parents home completley chaperoned to talk only until she decided which one she would become engaged too. She would never waitress anywhere, ever, this is considered very taboo. She would never live away from her family, she would stay with her parents until marriage. I seemed to have forgotten that Baha’i wasn’t a sect in Islam until I checked the world almanac to make sure, well Baha’i is not a Muslim religion. Well even if it was an Islamic sect I don’t know if Sahel would go to heaven. But as a Muslim I know that since she committed suicide out of despair (not relating to fighting in a war), she will go to hell for eternity. I think she was being a gold digger and a slut and shouldn’t have went out with McNair because he was married. I think she is a pretty girl though and if she wasn’t shallow she would be the kind of person that I would go out with. Or she would be the kind of girl I would like to look at while I am out walking in the streets. McNair was going to go to hell because he was a ———-, but his life was cut short and he didn’t seem to be of the violent type and should have lived out his life through old age. ANd now he is going to get tortured in the grave for different reasons and that gives me the shivers when thinking about it. He should have stayed with his wife and live off of his vast riches until he died. I feel bad for Sahel now that she is in the afterlife because God will never forgive her for committing suicide and she will spend eternity shooting herself in the head. This is what will happen according to Islam to people who committ suicide- they will spend an eternity killing themselves just like how they killed themselves on earth. Sahel should have worked out a way to get out of this and she should have gotten a smaller car for herself instead of a gas guzzling Escalade that she couldn’t afford to pay. And when she discovered that there was another young girl that MCNair was going out with she should have felt guilt as to what she was doing to Mcnair’s wife and should have broke off from McNair too. Hey CC, if she lived in Iran, it’s most likely that she would’ve been killed in one of the honor killings that is very common in Middle Eastern culture. This happened in America, some father ended up shooting his 2 teenage girls(biological girls) because they were wearing American style clothing and were talking to boys because he felt like he lost control of his girls.
The point I am making is that unless you have been brainwashed to do so, it’s very difficult for a teenager to completely follow all orders given by parents, especially orders that are so outrageous like clothing and who you surround yourself with and integrating yourself into American culture. So Kazemi most likely would’ve run away from home or she would’ve been killed through the honor killing process(WHICH IS JUST AS DESPICABLE AS MURDER)

We don’t know all the circumstances about this situation. If McNair was buying her cars, going on vacations with her, setting her up in a condo and spending a lot of time with her then it may be logical that a person could believe that he was going to take the next step. The real issue may be that she found out he was cheating on her. We also don’t really know how solid his marriage was. The wife and him could have been separated or had an understanding where as long as McNair paid for things and did not get a divorce he was free to do what he wanted. There are too many unknown factors to speculate then draw conclusions.
I can’t really say that this girl was sleezy either. She was really young and naive. To think that after a few months everything was going to turn into a fairy tale situation was unrealistic! She could have waited a year or so and if all did not go well then move on but instead she took two lives. What the hell was she thinking! She must have had nothing for herself to think one person could represent life and death! I understand that all of McNair’s 4 children was not even with his current wife so he may have a history of messing around. However, I can’t say anything about his charactor because he may have had honest intentions. I doubt it but we just don’t know all the intimate facts.
