Caster Semeneya, winner of the women’s 800 meter is given world title last month, the IAAF has received her results of her gender test and she will be meeting the South-African runner before the report completes. IAAF spokesman in an email to The Associated Press said that on Thursday he couldn’t confirm a story in Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald Newspaper which states that the tests show that Semeneya has male and female sexual organs. Davies said that he have not seen the results. He said that they have received the results from Germany, but there is a need to get them examined by a group of experts and they will not be able to speak this to the athlete for at least few weeks. Depending on the results they will meet the athlete privately to discuss about the further action. The Australian newspaper in their Friday edition reported that the reports of 18-yaer-old Semeneya has the indication that she is having no ovaries, but rather have internal male tests which are producing large amounts of testosterones.
To the newspaper’s report Davies said that it should be treated with caution. After her dominating race at the world championships at Berlin last month, Semeneya underwent blood and chromosome tests, as well as a gynecological examination.” Semeneya probably would be keeping her medal as the case was not related to a doping matter “said by IAAF. Since she has not cheated so it would be extremely difficult to strip off her medal as their legal advice that if she proves to have an advantage because of the male hormones. Davies wrote to the AP”she had it naturally and was entered in Berlin by her team and also was accepted by IAAF”.
