
Shane Sparks
An award-winning hip-hop choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance and a judge of America’s Best Dance Crew, Shane Sparks has been arrested on eight counts of felony child molestation charges in Los Angeles early this morning. He was arrested at his North Hollywood home and taken to a Van Nuys, California jail. LAPD spokesman Richard French said that he is currently being held on $590,000 bail. He has been the “subject of an ongoing child molestation investigation.”
The investigation is about a decade old incident involving a teenager. A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Jane Robison said that alleged victim filed a criminal complaint and victim’s identity is being withheld because she was a minor at the time. Robison said,
“There’s one victim, and it occurred in the ’90s. I believe it started in ‘94 and went on for several years. It’s an underage girl. She was under 15 when the alleged crimes occurred. She is an adult now and came forward to authorities.”
Shane won an American Choreography Award for his work as co-choreographer on 2004 film You Got Served before joining So You Think You Can Dance. He has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography for his work on season three of So You Think You Can Dance. Then he became a judge on MTV’s dance-themed competition, America’s Best Dance Crew, the show has just completed its fourth season.
Alex Da Silva was arrested in August on charges that he raped four of his dance students. He was the first choreographer connected to So You Think You Can Dance to be arrested for sex crimes.
