Sharron Kay Thornton is now able to see again. The miracle operation she underwent has allowed her to see. After her successful eye operation Sharron Kay Thornton saw the world after 9 long years and its really incredible. Because of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome that occurred nearly a decade ago, Sharron Kay Thornton lost her vision. She wasn’t able to see as her eye was in a bad condition. She wasn’t able to restore her eye-vision as this treatment or surgical procedure was not available at that time. The amazing surgical procedure through which Sharron Kay Thornton has become able to see is called modified osteo-odonto-keatroprosthesis. She has restored her eye-vision due to modified osteo-odonto-keatroprosthesis which was conducted for the very first time in the United States. The modified osteo-odonto-keatroprosthesis is a procedure in which one of patient’s teeth is taken, a tiny plastic lens inserted into it and then attached it to the patient’s eye.
After the surgery, Sharron Kay Thornton asked the media.
“Who in the world would have thought of taking a tooth out of your head and putting in your eye?”
Thornton was so happy on her eye-vision recovery and she said.
“I’m so thankful that the doctors at Bascom Palmer never gave up on me…I’m looking forward to seeing my seven youngest grandchildren for the first time. Without sight, life is really hard. I’m hoping this surgery will help countless people.”
Currently the vision of Sharron Kay Thornton is 20/70 and it is expected to improve with the passage of time.
