St. Anthony's Triathlon

On Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 9 a.m EST the online registration for the 2010 St. Anthony’s Triathlon opens at satriathlon.com with the competition is now in its 27th year. St. Anthony’s Triathlon is one of the largest Olympic-distance triathlons in the United States, this Triathlon is sponsored and produced by St. Anthony’s Hospital. From 23 to 25th of April the world’s strongest and elite professional athletes will participate in it. Last year the registration process was completed in less than 10 hours so athletes must register early this time.
From more than 45 states and 17 countries, 4,000 individual athletes and 150 relay teams attracted by St. Anthony’s Triathlon. The event features one of triathlon’s largest Sports & Fitness Expos which starts on Friday, April 23 from 12 to 7 p.m in Straub Park with Athlete Check-in. It will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m to 7 p.m in Straub Park. For Sunday’s participants mandatory bike check from noon to 8 p.m on Saturday.

On April 24, 2010 at 7:30 a.m. the competition will begin with the Meek & Mighty Triathlon supported by Bank of America at North Shore Pool. A short distance race for youth, age limit 7-10 (swim: 100 yards, bike: 3.6 miles, run: .5 miles) and youths ages 11-14 and beginner adults (swim: 200 yards, bike: 5.6 miles, run: 1 mile). On Sunday, April 25 the events wrap up with St. Anthony’s Triathlon beginning at 6:50 a.m., which will followed by post race party at 9:30 a.m. and awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m.

In Elite Amateur division, the top male and female competitors will be awarded with more than $10,000. More than 60 triathletes of professional category carries a $65,000-prize purse. In each division awards will go to the top 10 athletes. Volunteers for the event will receive a commemorative race T-shirt, access to the volunteer hospitality tent and chance to meet with the world-class athletes.
