Stephanie Spielman died on Thursday. She was suffering form breast cancer for two decades. At the age of 31 she felt a lump in her breast and a biopsy confirmed her fears. She was diagnosed with breast cancer. But the brave woman took it as a challenge because she had two options when she learned about this disease. First option was to quit and the second was to stand up and fight against it and the couple selected the second option and started their battle against it.
Chris Spielman decided to put his career on hold to be with her wife in such condition. Chris Spielman said:
“For me, to leave (Stefanie) in Columbus and go play football in Buffalo would be against everything I stood for,”
For Stefanie Spielman her husband’s step was shoiwng his true love. Stefanie Spielman said:
“That’s been the hardest part — seeing him give up what he loves — the best, for me.”
Stephanie not only fought against her disease but she also decided to help all those who were suffering from it. The couple formed a cancer research institute and raised more than $6.5 million for cancer patients. The famous host Oprah Winfrey said about their story that:
“You are about to hear an extraordinary story of love and devotion “.
After one year, doctors said that there were no signs of cancer so her life came back on track. But in 2001, a spot was found in her lungs and the battle that last for many years ended with her death.
