Steve Wozniak

Steve Wozniak born on 11th August, 1950 is an American computer engineer. He is the man who founded Apple computer, Inc now known as Apple Inc with the help of Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne. Steve added significant contribution to the personal computers with his inventions. In mid 1970’s he invented Apple I and Apple II. In 1970’s and in 1980’s Apple II was one of the best selling personal computers.

He has several nicknames like “The Woz”, “i Woz”, “Woz”. “Woz” is the short form of “Wheel of Zeus” which is also the name of Woznaik’s company.

In 1970, Woznaik met Steve Jobs that time Woznaik was working on mainframe computer. Jobs had an idea to sell computers as fully assembled PC board So he convinced Woznaik. They earned some money and started work on their project. In 1976 they formed Apple Computer. Woznaik became the vice president of research and development at Apple. They sold first 100 computers to Paul Terrell. Paul was starting his new computers shop with the name of Byte Shop that time. After it Woznaik focused on adding new functionality in Apple I.

In Apple II, he introduced high-resolution graphics. In 1980 Apple went public and Woznaik and Job became multimillionaires with its success. In 1987 after 12 years of company establishment Woznaik decided to end his full time job and work as an employee and a shareholder. His story of success not ends here after leaving it he founded a new venture in 1987 called CL 9 and brought first universal remote control to the market. In 2001 he created wireless GPS technology to “help everyday people find everyday things.” In February 2009 Steve Wozniak joined Fusion-io, a data storage and server company.

In 1985 he received the National Medal of Technology and in 1989 he received an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In December 2005, Wozniak was awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree.
