A container of propane exploded at the Waconia Farms Supply killing a teenager and injuring another on 10th June 2009, Wednesday.
Waconia Farm Supply is a very busy, untidy business center of farm supplies in Waconia which is located west of Minneapolis, Saint Paul also known as the twin cities.
According to the Sherriff of Carver County, Bud Olson, the person who died of the explosion was an employee at Waconia Farm Supply and at the time of the blast he was going to the propane tank filling place which is located on the business center in front of the main building. The explosion at Waconia Farm Supply happened around 4:55 PM local time.
The fire started from the main building and moved on to the Waconia Farm Supply?s area which was a compound that had many buildings, nursery area and fuel tanks. The Firefighters were swiftly there at the scene and quickly put out the fire but the damage to the main are of the building in the front was already done leaving water and smoke damage.
Waconia Farm Supply has 100 plush employees and sells used and new farm equipments and tools and other gardening supplies. It is located at the intersection of Highway 248 and Highway 5 in Waconia.
The teenager that suffered with wounds was rushed to the Ridgeview Medical Center for treatment and the teenager who died in the explosion was Ryan Samuelson who was a senior student at Waconia High School. A well known 17 year old young man. A Memorial service was arranged for Ryan Samuelson at a Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
