It’s been 10 years since Payton left us. It’s hard to believe that a decade has been passed but it is. Chicago bears honored him with a tearful tribute on Sunday at Soldier Field. His family was also present at that moment, they also talked about him. There is a video in which Bear’s current running back Matt Forte is shown giving legend a tribute. His teammates and coaches are shown talking about his playful humor, work ethic and the time he spent with fans. The video ends with a quote of Payton
“Never die easy. Why run out of bounds and die easy? Make that linebacker pay. It carries into all facets of your life. It’s okay to lose, to die, but don’t die without trying, without giving it your best.”
He was nicknamed as “sweetness” he spent his whole life playing for Chicago Bears of National Football League. In 1993, his name was selected as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Coach Mike Dikta declared him as the one of the greatest players of football.
He was born on 25th July 1954 in Edward Charles Payton’s house in Columbia, Mississippi. He started playing football at school after his elder brother Eddie completed his study. It’s a shame that I got an ad for a book by No Class- OchoStinko on the same page as a story about Nothing But Class- Walter Payton.
